Recipes for Cooking up Change
History will look back on 2020-2021 and the impact of the global pandemic as transformational moments in the world’s development. The loss of over 4 million people, who were mothers, fathers, grandparents, or children, as well as the impact on the 200 million who fell ill was just the start of the impacts of this crisis. Billions more suffer the loss of education, earnings, and opportunities to engage in strengthening their communities in other ways.

This is an inflection point moment for all of us. People of all ages showed solidarity in efforts for prevention, response and recovery. It is not just about responding to each other’s basic needs, but about how we support systemic change to overcome barriers for action on diversity, equity and inclusion, reduction of violence and conflict, food insecurity, climate change, and promoting the voice and rights of all in the development of their communities.
Stirring the Pot started as an intergenerational COVID-19 project between Carolina Hidalgo-McCabe and her father, Mike McCabe, and a number of young change agents who are bringing about transformational change. We share a dual love for the power of food and story-telling as key components of community building. Our goal is to provide a platform for inspiration where young emerging leaders can share their recipes for how they are stirring the pot and cooking up change. Welcome to the movement.

Stories from young leaders, recipes that have filled their stomachs and souls, a mission to stir the pot and cook up some change.
Established in August of 2021, Stirring the Pot is a forum for young leaders to share their recipes for food from their home countries and their recipes for change in their communities. Our goal is to connect and inspire young people to channel their creativity and passions into community action and food.
